Chairman – Board Member

Dr. Altman is the Founder and Executive Director of the Alternative Healing Network, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that promotes the use of integrative healing to the public and improves access to care.  A graduate of Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, Ryan the San Diego Healing Arts Festival, Adams Avenue Integrative Health, the free Integrative Health Nights program, and the Alternative Happy Hour series.

Steven Friedman
Board Member

After serving in the U.S. Navy, Steven graduated with a degree in education from Kean University in New Jersey. Following several years of teaching high school history & psychology, his interests turned to finance. He worked for several decades as a financial advisor, finally retiring as a Morgan Stanley Vice President. He then relocated to San Diego where he developed an interest in acupuncture & oriental medicine. Steven says that he is pleased to be associated with such a fine organization!

Ellen Gehrke, PhD
Board Member

Dr. Gehrke is a professor of leadership and health sciences at National University School of Health and Human Services.  She is the Director of the Master’s Program in Complementary and Integrative Healthcare.  Dr. Kaye Gehrke is also known for the work she has done demonstrating the healing power of horses for children with autism and current research on veterans dealing with symptoms of PTSD.  She lives on a small horse ranch in Ramona where she offers coaching and equine programs with her horses and mule.

Jen Hamilton, CPA

Jen is a nationally recognized consultant and trainer of staff, supervisors, and managers.  She is honored to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of Institute for Mastering Success. She trains professionals from entry-level staff to senior management to be motivated to do their work right, professionally, and work well with others.

Mrs. Hamilton has a long past and deep passion for making a difference in her community.  She co-founder and leader of Consultant Allies professional association, co-founded The Heights Charter school, and founded CAB Foundation at UC Santa Barbara.  Mrs. Hamilton is active in the community as a partner and Treasurer of the Board of San Diego Social Venture Partners, Treasurer for Alternative Healing Network, and leader of her daughter and niece’s Girl Scout troop

Dr. Dave McCann D.C.

Dr. Dave is a 1997 honors graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis. His background in engineering prepared him well for his systematic, yet highly creative approach to working with the human body. His extensive study of Applied Kinesiology gives him an excellent knowledge of the muscular system and how it relates to not only the skeleton, but also to the organs and the energy meridians of the body. Through his use of kinesiology, or “muscle testing”, he discovers the hidden causes of dis-ease in his patients.

 

Don Phillips, L.Ac.
Board Member

Don’s interest in acupuncture and Oriental medicine began in massage school during a survey of Asian massage modalities class. After graduating from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) in 2002, Don became a member of the faculty in 2005. He teaches in the OM/Acupuncture department on the subject of channel theory in acupuncture. Don also assists in supervising at the Seniors Clinic in downtown San Diego, the Pacific Beach Homeless Clinic, and the Integrative Health Nights (a collaborative effort with PCOM and the Alternative Healing Network).
