Briana “Bree” Erickson was introduced to Alternative Healing Network in 2012 during her final semester at SDSU before graduating with a BS in Business Management. Strongly drawn to both the mission of the organization and the tenets of Naturopathic Medicine, it was an easy choice for management to grant her a HR internship.
During her time as an intern, Bree’s work coordinating events, working the front desk and aiding the Naturopathic Doctor quickly made her indispensable to the organization. She was offered a position as Lead Clinical Administrator and quickly took over the majority of essential front desk and volunteer management tasks. As we opened our second clinic Bree became manager of Adams Avenue.
In the Summer of 2013, Bree accepted an offer to be the first trainee of Dr. Shannyn Fowl as a Certified Naturopathic Assistant. As the initial student of the program, Bree worked closely with Dr. Fowl to develop the content of a Naturopathic Assistant Certification program. She now assists all of our naturopathic doctors at both of our locations. Her role as NA includes venipuncture, injections, documenting treatment protocols, ordering products, insurance billing and first-line communication with patients between appointments with the Doctors.
A year later Bree’s role expanded to the Director of Operations. In this role she performs a wide array of essential duties in the areas of human resources, marketing, customer service, accounting, and finance. She prides herself on being specialized in efficiency and effectiveness.
A natural self-starter, Bree was awarded a total of $20,000 in scholarships throughout her college career. As soon as her Junior year at SDSU, she knew she wanted to have a career in health care administration and is grateful for her opportunities to learn and grow with AltHealNet. However, her greatest satisfaction with her job comes from helping patients get the most valuable care.
