Chiropractic is based on the fact that the human body is a self-healing self-regulating organism. If you cut your finger, it heals. If you cut the finger of a corpse, it doesn’t. It is this innate intelligence or life-force itself that heals. We know that the nervous system is the master communication system of the body. Every gland, organ, tissue, and cell of your body communicates back and forth through the nervous system. There is nothing you experience or express as a human being that isn’t processed through the nervous system. When there is interference within the nervous system, it adversely affects your health, leading to musculoskeletal, neurological, vascular, nutritional, environmental and emotional problems as well. Additionally, it distorts your perception of the world and compromises your ability to respond to the world. As chiropractors we look deeper than the symptoms to locate and correct the cause of that nervous system interference.
The benefits of chiropractic care go far beyond relief of musculoskeletal problems such as neck pain, back pain, and headaches. Many of our patients have reported improvements in digestion, circulation, sleep and energy, quicker recovery from illness and surgery, reduction in tension and stress level, and an overall sense of wellbeing.
Much like regular visits to the dentist or eye doctor, the greatest benefits of chiropractic care are achieved when someone chooses wellness care. Regularly scheduled visits, four to six times annually, can detect little problems before they become big problems and help prevent recurrence of chronic issues. However, some patients may need to be seen more often, depending on their health and activity level. When someone is beginning chiropractic care they are seen more frequently for the first three or four weeks, sometimes as often as twice a week. This is because much like working out at the gym each visit builds on the one before. Once the acute symptoms subside, the frequency of visits decreases.
